We had breakfast and pottered about a bit and then got a phonecall from one of my ex-colleagues from Addenbrookes Hospital Emma. She was in town and wondered if she could have permission to come aboard we said yes! So a short while later Emma turned up with her friend Stuart. It was lovely to see her again. We gave them a guided tour of the boat and she was most impressed, especially at how tidy it was I am not renowned for being the tidiest person in the world! We had a cuppa and a chat and then it was time for them to go and carry on with their shopping. We decided to pop up into town to do a bit of shopping ourselves however we had to be quick because we were expecting Vicki to arrive at about 2.00pm she finally turned up about 3.30pm and then announced she couldnt stop long charming! So we resigned ourselves to being all alone for the afternoon. However a little while later we got a phonecall from Vickis lovely friend Bushra asking if she could pop down to see us we said yes of course! She soon turned up and we were delighted to see her, its been quite a while since we last met. We were so busy laughing and talking we hadnt noticed how the time had passed and after we had said our goodbyes and taken some photos we suddenly realised it was 9.0clock and we hadnt had any tea! We soon rectified that and settled down for the evening to watch another couple of episodes of 24! It still hadnt rained! When we went to bed around 11ish it was rather noisy as there was a bunch of people sitting on the grassy bank not far from our boat. They were drinking and chatting and laughing and I thought I would never get to sleep, well I must have been tired because I was asleep before I knew it! Sunday July 5th we woke up around 8.00am and it still wasnt raining however it was quite cloudy and looked as if it might. I spent quite a while standing at the kitchen window throwing tiny balls of bread into the water and watching all the fish zooming in to feed! Its great fun its a bit like floating on a fish tank! There really are so many fish in the rivers, of all different sizes. Obviously the water is very good quality. I was quite horrified when I looked out of the windows at the other side of the boat to see piles of rubbish where the people had been sitting the night before! There were bottles, boxes, bags and general rubbish arent some people dreadful! What is even more annoying is that there is actually a litter bin about ten yards away from where they were sitting! Clive cleared it all up and put it in said bin. It really doesnt take much effort does it I blame the parents! We spent a very leisurely morning indeed and feel strangely at a bit of a loose end! Of course if Cambridge was new to us we would be out doing the tourist thing, looking at all the gorgeous old college buildings and other sights of this lovely old city but of course its been our home for so many years that would seem a bit strange wouldnt it! We are not seeing Vicki today as she is a bit busy but Gareth is taking the opportunity to come over and have Sunday dinner with us this evening, which will be nice. I hope he isnt expecting a roast dinner though were having a chicken casserole! We are only supposed to stay on this mooring for 48 hours, however we are going to be naughty and stay another day we plan to leave on Tuesday sometime. All being well we might be having some more visitors tomorrow some of my other colleagues from Addenbrookes are popping over to see us after work. It will be nice to see them. Well thats all the news for now. Oh charming I have just heard from Gareth that he isnt coming for dinner now hes had a better offer and is going to the pictures instead with his pals! Isnt it just amazing we have been away for ten months and as soon as we turn up in Cambridge and near to our kids they suddenly ditch us!
