Clive & Melanie Morris | Narrowboat | Folk

About Me

I am a retired Royal Navy Marine Engineer. My first narrow boat was a 28Ft Springer called CHAOS, 1999/2000. I have been continious cruising on my live-aboard 45Ft Narow Boat HALCYON  since 2005. Cruised extensively, mostly single handed, within a box area from Bristol East including the Rivers Lee & Stort , North to Ripon and West to Wigan.

Next week, July 6th 2009, I leave the Fens to overwinter on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. During 2010 it is my aim to visit the Lancaster Canal = Ribble Link also the Liverpool Link..

I frequently crew on my mate Chris's Dutch Barge Watergeus, buillt 1905.Our trips have inluded; Bristol to Gloucester via the Shearness; London to Boston via Southwold, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Wells by the Sea; Boston to Kings Lyne, Denver Sluice, Cambridge and Bedford; returning to Peterborough via the Wash and Wisbech; Peterborough up the River Nene to Fotherington; Peterborough to Grimsby via Wisbech and the Wash; Grimsby to York via Goole; East to West to Liverpool via the Leeds & Liverpool Canal; Liverpool to Dublin via Irish Sea; Kelmore Quay Southern Ireland to Milford Haven,, Wales;  Watergeus is curently crusiing West to East along the Kennet and Avon Canal, destination Europe. Chris is planning a cruise across Europe to overwinter on the Black Sea and return via Russia and Germany. see Web site www.dreamofai.net

2008 I fullfilled a life long dream - Summer Assistant Lock Keeper at Radcot Lock on the Upper River Thames,.This was a most rewarding five months noted as the Year of floods. Red Board Flood restruictions were in place every month except August.

The only set back with my life afloat is that there aren't enough hours in my day.

Many boaters return ashore because they tire of living in a coridoor."

I live in a coffin and that is my next stop.

Happy cruising' KEN
