We left our mooring in Devizes around 12 noon today. We were both very tired last night after our long, hard day and in fact I went to bed around 9.30 with the intention of reading my book it didnt last long! Clive came to bed a little while after me and we were soon going cross-eyed trying to read and so gave up and went to sleep. We must have really needed our sleep though as we didnt wake up until after 10.00am this morning!
The cruise from Devizes was a very gentle one, with no
locks and only a couple of swing bridges.
I jumped off and did the first one without any problems and sometime
later we noticed another boat up in front of us going extremely slowly. Then we realised it was pulling in to the
bank, because of course we had reached the second swing bridge! As we approached we both thought the boat
looked very familiar and sure enough as we got closer we could read the name on
the side Wewak! Well fancy that they
kindly let us through the bridge first and as we waved goodbye I got a quick
photo as we hadnt managed to get one yesterday. I had noticed there only seemed to be three
of them on board and there should have been four, well sometime later we
noticed a lady jogging along the towpath towards us and as she got nearer we could
see it was the fourth crew member. Some
people have far too much energy!!!
Other than that we have nothing else to report. Also we havent taken many photographs as we
photographed everything of interest on the way down the K and A a couple of
weeks ago. Just a few wildlife pictures,
none of which turned out particularly well you should try taking photos of
swallows as they skim the water catching bugs!
I got a couple but they are a bit blurry, which is a shame. I did get one of a Kestrel perched on the
telegraph wires and a swan on its nest.
So we are now moored up at Pewsey Wharf, having just been for a wee drink at The Waterfront pub which is right next to the wharf!
It took us about four hours to get here from Devizes, which was quite enough for today, however we are both still quite tired so I think an early night will be on the cards again!
By the way I have to apologise to Jamie I said he was 7 yesterday and Im wrong, hes actually 8 oops! Sorry Jamie!
