The weather has been atrocious here as it seems it has everywhere; we heard about flooding today on the news - poor sods who have to clear up again! We were looking at huge fields of wheat as we drifted along today and it all looks miserable..the farmers are going to have a hell of a time getting any decent harvest at this rate; I wonder what our ancestors of 100 years ago would have thought?? If you'd said we are in for Global warming, they would probably have said "Bring it on" or something si...Read Full Post »

Well its Saturday, can't believe its been six days already! I decided to do some laundry today so got stuck in in the kitchen sink! The boat is now festooned with knickers and T shirts! When we finally set off around 10.30 this morning it was only raining a little and it soon stopped so we enjoyed some very pleasant cruising along the Oxford Canal. Some of the stretches were really pretty with overhanging trees. Nature's bounty is very obvious with brambles, rosehip...Read Full Post »

Well we're back on line having moored in a "blind spot" for a couple of nights with no signal! Must remember to check that we have a signal on our mobiles before we moor, then we will know we have a signal for our dongle!

OK, Day 2! Left our overnight mooring to get up the Top Lock at Buckby, to wait for our "Cratch" guy, Dave Bassett, who came along with a nearly finished version to see if it fitted OK. AJ Canopies, who are making the cover, also joined us and set about measuring up a template for the cover based on Dave's cratch dimensions. All went well (photos in gallery).
Had a visit from a friend of ours, Malcolm Hysom, who lives quite close by - stayed for a cuppa and a chat and kindly took Mel s...Read Full Post »

Well, at last we are on the boat after much trial & tribulation getting all our stuff out of our house ready for the tenants and the rest to storage. It's amazing what junk you acquire after 16 years in one place! We finally shut down and said goodbye to the old place on Sunday afternoon after having had to make an impromptu trip to the boat on Saturday to take the first instalment of our worldly possessions! At first glance, it was never going to fit! Every surface and floor space was taken...Read Full Post »
