Monday Sept 20th – Ely to Stretham
We had a lovely time yesterday. Vicki and Ben arrived late afternoon and we gave them their birthday presents. I produced a birthday cake, complete with candle, along with the cups of tea and coffee and we sang Happy Birthday! We had decided to go out for a meal that evening and the consensus was Thai. We found one in Ely called BKK and it was fantastic. We arrived at 7.30pm, the service was very good in...

Thursday Sept 17th – Ely
What I failed to mention in the last blog is that whilst we were relaxing on the boat yesterday afternoon I noticed a man standing on the bank looking at our boat with a big smile on his face! I opened the window and popped my head out to say hello and enquire why he was beaming! He laughed and asked if I would mind if he took a photograph of our boat as he had a friend called Arwen! Needless to say I said yes but of course we ...

We left Burwell after breakfast and headed back down the lode. It was bright and sunny first thing but there were clouds scudding over periodically and there was also a coolish breeze. When the sun went behind a cloud it was positively chilly! I didn’t actually go up on deck at all during the trip down the lode as I was trying to get yesterday’s blog posted. The signal last night was hopeless and I just couldn’t get it to download properly.

We left our mooring at The Plough, Fen Ditton, this morning, hopefully for the last time! We had actually slept in, being quite shocked when we woke up to find it was going up to 10.00 o’clock! So after a quick cuppa and a hurried breakfast we headed off. Very soon after we set off we arrived at Baits Bite Lock. Whilst I was settingthe lock I met an ex-colleague from Addenbrooke’s Hospital out walking her dog – this is the second time we have bumped in...

Tuesday September 8th - Clayhithe
We had a very lazy day today. Apart from doing a bit of family tree research we just spent the day relaxing really. Other than that there was nothing else to report, well except that later on in the evening I glanced out of the window just as the sun was setting - well I can't resist a sunset!

Sunday September 6th – Cambridge
We didn’t do much during the day yesterday, well apart from me going to the launderette. It is very convenient being just around the corner from the moorings on Victoria Road. I managed to get all the light stuff washed and dried, including all the towels, in a relatively short time and was soon back on board with everything stowed away.
I decided to put the planter back on the bows now that ...

Friday September 4th – Clayhithe
There was no let up in the windy conditions for the rest of the day yesterday and the boat was still rocking every now and again even after we had gone to bed! It really was very windy indeed and we were both very glad we had decided to stay put!

Wednesday September 2nd – Ely
The weathermen informed us last night that today it was going to be absolutely horrible! It was going to be raining most of the day, heavily! Not nice!! So when we got up this morning and it hadn’t yet started raining we decided to move further down to the other Ely moorings near to Tesco’s so that we could go and do a bit of shopping. However, Clive was very reluctant to leave the mooring we were on with...

TODAY IS OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY - WE HAVE BEEN TRAVELLING ON BOARD LADY ARWEN FOR A WHOLE YEAR!
Can you believe it - a whole year! We have been looking back through some of the photographs that we have taken over the last twelve months and really we are both amazed at just how many places we have been to and just how far we have actu...

Friday August 28th – St Ives
I’m afraid we didn’t leave today after all! We were listening to the weather forecast last night and it informed us that there were going to be extremely high winds today – not good! Lady Arwen takes quitea bit of handling when it’s windy and it can be downright dangerous in very high winds. So that was our excuse and we’re sticking to it! Actually it is very windy ...
